Keeping students safe at Sunstone.

This Policy explains:

• how student accounts are supervised;
• how students may participate in community areas;
• which conduct is prohibited;
• how safety concerns may be reported;
• and how Sunstone Academy may respond.

Children cannot independently enroll in Sunstone Academy.

A parent or legal guardian:

• requests or authorizes enrollment;
• provides the email address used for the student account;
• creates and controls the password;
• decides how the student accesses the platform;
• and supervises younger students where appropriate.
  
  

Sunstone Academy does not have access to users’ readable passwords.

Students may be permitted to:

• create a profile;
• use an appropriate profile image;
• publish posts and comments;
• upload educational images or files;
• and participate in authorized Academy discussions.
  
  

Students must not share:

• home addresses;
• telephone numbers;
• private email addresses;
• passwords;
• precise locations;
• financial information;
• government identification information;
• or private information about another person.
  
  

Profiles, posts, images, and files must remain appropriate for an educational environment.

Private student-to-student messaging is not permitted.

Students may contact authorized teachers and administrators through approved platform features for:

• learning questions;
• technical or account support;
• student wellbeing;
• or reporting a concern.
  
  

Sunstone Academy may review messages where reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate concerns, or enforce Academy policies.

Users must not:bully, threaten, harass, or humiliate another person;

• publish hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful content;
• pressure another student to communicate outside the platform;
• request private contact details, photographs, or location information;
• impersonate another person;
• reveal another user’s private information;
• upload malware or deceptive links;
• or use Academy features in a way that creates a safety risk.

Sunstone Academy may:

• review reported content;
• remove posts, comments, images, or files;
• restrict community participation;
• preserve relevant records;
• contact a parent or legal guardian;
• suspend or close an account;
• and take other reasonable steps to protect users.

Not every post or message is reviewed before publication. Parents remain responsible for supervising their child’s platform use.

Students and parents should report any content, communication, or behavior that feels:

• unsafe;
• threatening;
• inappropriate;
• discriminatory;
• overly personal;
• sexually concerning;
• or otherwise troubling.

Depending on the circumstances, Sunstone Academy may:

• review and document the concern;
• preserve relevant platform information;
• remove or restrict content;
• limit communication or community access;
• contact the student’s parent or guardian;
• suspend or close an account;
• direct the family to appropriate local services;
• or cooperate with lawful authorities where required.
  
  

Sunstone Academy will prioritize the safety and privacy of children when deciding how to respond.

Safeguarding information will be handled carefully and shared only where reasonably necessary to:

• protect a child or another person;
• investigate a concern;
• comply with law;
• obtain appropriate professional or emergency support;
• or maintain necessary safety records.
  
  

Sunstone Academy cannot promise absolute confidentiality where disclosure is required to protect someone from serious harm or comply with a lawful obligation.

Parents and guardians should:

• protect account credentials;
• supervise younger students;
• review profile and community participation;
• discuss safe online behavior;
• remind students not to share personal information;
• report concerns promptly;
• and contact Sunstone if access should be changed or closed.

Students should:

• communicate respectfully;
• keep personal details private;
• protect their login information;
• use only approved communication features;
• avoid responding to concerning messages;
• report unsafe content;
• and tell a parent, guardian, teacher, or administrator when something feels wrong.
